HB5056

Illinois HB5056 amends the Innkeeper Protection Act to exclude certain emergency shelters from the definition of "hotel.

Illinois HB5056 amends the Innkeeper Protection Act by modifying the definition of "hotel" to exclude facilities that provide emergency shelter or housing to unhoused or unsheltered individuals. These excluded facilities must limit admissions to a single overnight stay or daily renewals and cannot charge fees for admission. The act ensures that such shelters are not considered hotels under the law. This change takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
