Illinois HB5043 amends the Illinois Municipal Code to permit municipalities to regulate the installation of solar energy systems and low-voltage solar-powered devices. The bill removes the previous prohibition on municipalities adopting ordinances or resolutions that prohibit such installations. Instead, it allows municipalities to regulate these installations in a manner consistent with their comprehensive plans or zoning authority, including within their one and one-half mile extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction.
