HB5031

Illinois HB5031 prohibits write-in candidates from assuming office if they receive fewer votes than required petition signatures.

Illinois HB5031 amends the Township Code and the Illinois Municipal Code to establish that write-in candidates for township and municipal offices cannot assume their duties if they receive fewer votes than the number of signatures required to appear on the ballot. This applies to both township and municipal write-in candidates, ensuring a minimum threshold of electoral support before they can take office.
