Illinois HB5024 amends the Illinois Municipal Code to define "detention center facility" and restricts their location. These facilities, which include those owned by federal immigration authorities or those temporarily holding detained individuals, cannot be situated within 1,500 feet of schools, day care centers, cemeteries, public parks, forest preserves, public housing, private residences, or places of worship. The law takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
