Introduced·2/4/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HB4960 amends the Environmental Protection Act to modify the Brownfields Redevelopment Fund and Municipal Brownfields Redevelopment Grant.

HB4960 amends the Environmental Protection Act by adjusting the Brownfields Redevelopment Fund and the Municipal Brownfields Redevelopment Grant Program. The bill removes size limitations on grants issued to municipalities under the grant program. It also mandates that starting July 1, 2026, the State Comptroller must direct the State Treasurer to transfer $5,000,000 annually from the Underground Storage Tank Fund to the Brownfields Redevelopment Fund. The fund can then be used for grants, loans, or other financial assistance for brownfields redevelopment activities.
