HB4947 amends the Illinois Election Code to allow candidates to voluntarily waive personal service of process for objections to their nomination papers. Instead, candidates can consent to receive notice of any objection by registered or certified mail and posting on the website of the unit of local government. If the local government does not maintain a website, notice must be posted at the principal office. The bill also specifies that if a party does not appear for receipt of the decision, the decision shall be deemed served on the date it is personally delivered or mailed.
