Illinois HB4926 amends the School Code to require school districts, excluding Chicago, to employ enough licensed school counselors to maintain a student-counselor ratio of 150 to 1. It mandates the Chicago Board of Education to employ enough licensed school counselors to maintain a student-counselor ratio of 100 to 1. Each counselor must spend at least 75% of their work time in direct contact with students.
