HB4904 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 to allow courts to issue warrants for the arrest of defendants who fail to comply with any condition of pretrial release or upon the filing of a verified petition. The court may issue a summons or a warrant for the defendant's arrest. If a defendant appears in court on the date assigned or within 48 hours of service, they will not be recorded as having failed to appear. This nonappearance, if cured by an appearance in response to a summons, will not be considered as evidence of future likelihood of appearance in court.
