Illinois HB4897 amends the Genetic Information Privacy Act to prevent insurers from using genetic information for insurance purposes. Specifically, insurers are prohibited from canceling, limiting, or denying coverage, establishing differentials in premium rates, or requiring or soliciting genetic information for any insurance policy, contract, or plan offered, entered into, issued, amended, or renewed on or after January 1, 2027.
