HB4853

Illinois HB4853 amends the Public Media Grant Act to redefine eligible public media outlets and adjust grant distribution.

Illinois HB4853 amends the Public Media Grant Act, renaming it the Public Media Grant Act. It expands the definition of eligible public media outlets to include public, educational, and government access channels. The bill revises the grant distribution process, ensuring that each eligible outlet station certifies its actual operating cost to the Illinois Arts Council. Grants are allocated based on these costs, with a cap of 60% of the total funds in each grant pool per station. The remaining funds are distributed among the remaining eligible stations.
