Illinois HB4830 amends the Illinois Power Agency Act and Public Utilities Act to define "agrivoltaic system" and establish criteria for such systems.

Illinois HB4830 amends the Illinois Power Agency Act and the Public Utilities Act by defining "agrivoltaic system" as a ground-mounted photovoltaic solar energy system. The system must be intentionally designed with agricultural producers or agrivoltaics experts, achieve simultaneous production of solar energy and marketable agricultural products, and operate on land beneath or between solar panels. The agricultural production must start as soon as feasible after the solar panels' commercial operation and continue until decommissioning.
