Illinois HB4828 ensures housing assistance recipients pay no more than 30% of their income for housing costs and allows relocation without losing.

Illinois HB4828 amends the Department of Human Services Act to ensure that housing assistance payments for long-term care residents transitioning to community housing are structured so recipients pay no more than 30% of their income as housing costs. It also allows recipients to relocate to a different residence that meets applicable Department rules without losing eligibility for such housing assistance payments. This Act takes effect July 1, 2026.
