Illinois HB4730 establishes the FRESH Program to provide emergency financial support to households affected by the termination or reduction of SNAP.

Illinois HB4730 creates the Families Receiving Emergency Support for Hunger (FRESH) Program, offering financial assistance to households facing termination or reduction of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Eligible households receive a one-time lump sum payment, either three times their previous monthly SNAP allotment or three times the difference between their previous and reduced SNAP allotment. The Department of Human Services must make FRESH program applications available online and in-person at local Family and Community Resource Centers.
