Illinois HB4721 amends the Grocery Initiative Act to include grants and financial assistance for mobile farmers markets and online farmers markets. The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity may award grants for technology upgrades, including software and point-of-sale systems, to independently owned for-profit grocery stores, cooperative grocery stores, not-for-profit grocery stores, or farmer-owned grocery stores. The Department may prioritize grant awards based on factors such as poverty rates, income, geographic diversity, and access to grocery stores.
