Illinois HB4690 allows municipalities to collect sanitary sewer taxes as part of property tax bills.
Illinois HB4690 amends the Property Tax Code to allow municipalities authorized to levy and collect taxes for sanitary sewer maintenance, construction, or replacement to collect these taxes as part of the taxpayer's property tax bill. The sanitary sewer taxes must appear as a separate line item on the property tax bill and are not considered part of any taxing district's aggregate extension for the purpose of the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law. The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
