Illinois HB4567 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to prevent default judgments against pro se litigants with disabilities or health conditions.

HB4567 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to prohibit courts from entering default judgments against pro se litigants who have a specified disability or health condition and failed to appear at a hearing due to that condition. If less than 30 days have passed since the entry of the default judgment, the default shall be set aside. If 30 days or more have passed, the default shall be set aside under Section 2-1401(f). This applies to all default judgments, whether entered before, on, or after the effective date of the amendatory Act.
