Introduced·1/22/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HB4532 amends the Election Code to standardize the format of candidate names on primary election ballots.

HB4532 modifies the Election Code to standardize the format of candidate names on primary election ballots. Candidate names must be printed in both capital and lowercase letters, following standard English language guidelines, unless the election system makes this impractical. The names of candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor must be printed within a bracket, with a single square in front of the bracket. Spaces between candidate names must be uniform, and the names of candidates for different offices must be separated by sufficient space.
