HB4505

ELEC CD-ELECTION BOARD

Introduced·1/20/26
Introduced Text

Illinois HB4505 amends the Election Code to change how county boards of election commissioners are established.

HB4505 amends the Election Code by removing the option for a county without a city, village, or incorporated town with a board of election commissioners to establish a county board of election commissioners by ordinance. Instead, such a county must establish the board through a vote of the electors, requiring approval from 60% of the voters. The bill also specifies that a county board of election commissioners in a county with a city, village, or incorporated town with its own board will supersede the local board.
