Illinois HB4503 amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act to allow active TRS members and their dependents to participate in group health.

Illinois HB4503 amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 to establish a program for active members of the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) and their dependent beneficiaries to participate in group health benefits. The Department of Central Management Services must implement this program by January 1, 2028, allowing these individuals to opt into the group health benefits offered under the Act, including those for Medicare-primary members and their dependents, instead of the health benefits provided by the school district.
