Eligible employees, including correctional officers, law enforcement officers, and firefighters, who become permanently unable to perform their duties due to an injury or illness in the line of duty are entitled to an extension of up to 60 days of continued compensation. The bill also allows for physical or medical examinations to determine the degree of disability and prohibits the injured employee from being employed in any other manner during the period of disability.
