Illinois HB4471 amends the Criminal Code to redefine "machine gun" and "convertible pistol," and sets penalties for unlawful possession of weapons.

Illinois HB4471 amends the Criminal Code to redefine "machine gun" as any weapon that shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manually reloading by a single function of the trigger. It also defines "convertible pistol" as any semiautomatic pistol with a cruciform trigger bar that can be readily converted by hand or with common household tools.
