Illinois HB4347 allows veterans with service-connected disabilities of 50% or more to apply for special registration plates without a fee.

Illinois HB4347 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that any veteran with a service-connected disability of 50% or more, but not qualifying for disability plates, can apply for special registration plates without a fee. The plates can be for one motor vehicle of the first division, one motorcycle, or one motor vehicle of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. The Secretary of State may allow these plates to be issued as vanity or personalized plates.
