HB4334

Illinois HB4334 removes the requirement for high school students to complete two years of foreign language courses to graduate.

Illinois HB4334 amends the School Code to eliminate the requirement for students entering the 9th grade beginning with the 2028-2029 school year to complete two years of foreign language courses as a prerequisite for receiving a high school diploma. This change allows students to choose from other subjects such as music, art, vocational education, or forensic speech to fulfill their graduation requirements. The bill also specifies that Advanced Placement computer science courses can be counted as a mathematics course that includes geometry content.
