Illinois HB4268 prohibits township boards from entering, amending, or renewing contracts near elections, except for emergencies.

Illinois HB4268 amends the Township Code to restrict township boards from entering, amending, or renewing employment, equipment, or service contracts during the 14 days before a consolidated election and through the third Monday in May following the election. Exceptions are made for contracts addressing emergencies, defined as conditions requiring immediate action to prevent disease spread or imminent danger to persons or property. Contracts entered into, amended, or renewed in violation of this provision are voidable.
