Illinois HB4220 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to set speed limits for various types of vehicles and roads.

HB4220 modifies the Illinois Vehicle Code to establish speed limits for different types of vehicles and roads. It sets a maximum speed limit of 15 miles per hour for bicycles, low-speed electric bicycles, low-speed gas bicycles, motor driven cycles, and mopeds on bicycle paths. For other vehicles, it sets limits based on road type and location, such as 70 miles per hour on interstate highways outside urban districts and 55 miles per hour on other highways. Certain counties can adopt lower speed limits. The bill also emphasizes the need to decrease speed in hazardous conditions.
