Introduced·11/24/25
Introduced Text

Illinois HB4213 amends hospital assessment repayment rules, extending the repayment period to 72 months.

HB4213 amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to change the repayment period for hospital assessments. It extends the maximum repayment period from 36 months to 72 months. The Illinois Department must collect all overdue unpaid assessments and penalties by September 1, 2025. The bill also allows the Department to initiate administrative or judicial proceedings to enforce these provisions. Unpaid assessments become a lien on hospital assets, and the Department can foreclose on these liens. The bill's changes apply to assessments overdue as of the effective date of House Bill 2771.
