Illinois HB4153 amends the State Employee Article of the Illinois Pension Code to allow federal or out-of-state employment credit for contributing.

HB4153 amends the Illinois Pension Code to allow contributing employees to establish additional service credit for periods of full-time employment with the federal government or a state or local government outside Illinois. The credit cannot exceed 9 years and must be submitted within 6 months of the bill's effective date. The credit for federal employment, when added to all military service credit, cannot exceed 14 years. The bill also prohibits credit for military service or periods covered under other provisions.
