Illinois HB4137 amends the Education for Homeless Children Act to allow school districts to provide extended motel stays and financial assistance to children who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The bill requires districts to first seek help from homeless assistance agencies. If unsuccessful, transportation funds may be used. A housing plan must be approved by the school district and the child's parent, guardian, or enroller. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
