Illinois HB3842 amends the Township Code to allow township boards to contract with municipalities or counties for police protection in unincorporated areas. This applies to townships in counties with a population of 1,000,000 or more. The township board can use special police district funds for public safety but cannot use them for red light cameras, speed cameras, or automatic license plate readers. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
