HB3797 amends the School Code to mandate automatic suspension of teacher licenses for convictions of sex offenses or crimes requiring sex offender.

HB3797 amends the School Code to require the State Board of Education to create a system for the automatic suspension of a teacher's license if the holder is convicted of a crime under the Sex Offenses Article of the Criminal Code of 2012 or a crime that requires registration under the Sex Offender Registration Act. The suspension will continue until seven years after the end of the sentence for the criminal offense. If the conviction is reversed or the charges are dismissed, the suspension will be terminated.
