Illinois HB3744 amends the Radiation Protection Act of 1990 to require all intrastate and interstate shippers or carriers of irradiated nuclear reactor fuel to notify the Illinois Emergency Management Agency at least 7 days prior to transportation. The Agency may collect, store, and dispose of uncontrolled sources of radiation that pose a threat to public health and safety or the environment. The Agency can also assess actual costs for these activities against the person responsible for the radioactive material.
