Illinois HB3716 establishes a grant program for farmers to distribute healthy, free food to expectant mothers in need.

Illinois HB3716 amends the Department of Agriculture Law to create a grant program. The Department of Agriculture will award grants of up to $250,000 to qualified farmers. These grants will cover the costs and labor of distributing healthy, free food to expectant mothers in need. To qualify, farmers must have a feasible plan for distributing food to expectant mothers in need within the same county or within 20 miles of the farmer's farm. The Department will determine if the applicant is a qualified applicant based on specific criteria.
