Illinois HB3586 mandates training for board members of condominium and common interest communities.

Illinois HB3586 amends the Condominium and Common Interest Community Ombudsperson Act to require training for elected and appointed members of boards of managers or directors. The training, to be completed within 90 days of election or appointment, covers ethics, fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, communication, roles and responsibilities, and the complaint process. Members who complete the training are exempt from retaking it for three years. The Ombudsperson is authorized to adopt rules to implement the training and determine its composition and delivery.
