The Care for Retired Police Dogs Program Act creates a program within the University of Illinois system to provide stable funding for the veterinary care of retired police dogs. The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois will contract with a not-for-profit corporation to administer the program. Annual reimbursements for veterinary care are capped at $1,500 per dog. The Act also establishes the Illinois Police K-9 Memorial Fund to support the program and create a police K-9 memorial monument. Special license plates will be issued to raise funds for the memorial and the program.
