HB3391

VEH CD-RETRO LICENSE PLATES

Chamber Passed·4/7/25

Illinois HB3391 allows the Secretary of State to issue retro license plates for passenger vehicles, motorcycles, autocycles, and certain motor.

Illinois HB3391 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to authorize the Secretary of State to issue special retro license plates. These plates, replicas of those issued between 1983 and 2001, can be affixed to passenger vehicles, motorcycles, autocycles, and motor vehicles weighing up to 8,000 pounds. The Secretary may allow these plates to be issued as vanity or personalized plates. An additional $40 fee is charged for original issuance, and $27 for each renewal period, to cover production costs and technology updates.
