Introduced·2/7/25
Introduced Text

Illinois HB3371 allows State's Attorneys to charge felonies as misdemeanors at their discretion.

HB3371 amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 to give State's Attorneys the discretion to charge certain felonies as misdemeanors. The bill also mandates that upon the commencement of a prosecution for specific offenses, the State's Attorney must notify the superintendent of schools or school administrator if the accused is an employee. The bill ensures that the rights of employees under collective bargaining agreements or employment contracts are not diminished.
