Illinois HB3285 allocates $575,000,000 from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Transportation for the Statewide Railway Program. This includes $70,000,000 for operating passenger trains, $100,000,000 for purchasing modern trains and constructing new maintenance facilities, $2,000,000 for adding professional staff, $50,000,000 for maintaining mainline tracks, and $230,000,000 for operating regional buses. Additionally, $23,000,000 is set aside for planning, design, and environmental clearance of a new electrified high-speed line. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.
