Illinois HB3275 mandates CPR, first aid, and AED certification for school coaches and staff, and requires schools to develop cardiac emergency.

HB3275 requires all school coaches and staff to obtain and maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and the use of an automatic external defibrillator, consistent with national guidelines. It amends the Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act to mandate these certifications for coaches and staff. The School Safety Drill Act is also amended to require schools to develop a cardiac emergency response plan, including procedures for cardiac emergencies, a listing of AEDs, education on CPR and AED use, and the establishment of a certified cardiac emergency response.
