People Over Parking Act prohibits minimum parking requirements near public transit hubs.
The People Over Parking Act prohibits local governments from imposing minimum automobile parking requirements on development projects located within one-half mile of a public transportation hub. Exceptions include voluntary parking provisions for car share vehicles, shared parking, or fee-based parking. The Act also limits local government home rule powers regarding parking requirements and does not prevent the establishment of maximum parking requirements or regulation of on-street parking. Effective June 1, 2025.
