HB3196 amends the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act and the Regional Transportation Authority Act to provide free fixed route public transportation services to senior citizens aged 65 and older. The services must be provided by the Chicago Transit Authority, the Suburban Bus Board, and the Commuter Rail Board. Eligibility is based on income, not exceeding 105% of the income eligibility limitation set forth in the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities Property Tax Relief Act. The Department on Aging will determine eligibility and automatically renew it every five years.
