Illinois HB3158 amends the Public Higher Education Act to establish minimum hourly salaries for employees at public higher education institutions. Starting with the 2025-2026 academic year, the minimum hourly rate is set at $22, increasing to $23 for 2026-2027, and $24 for 2027-2028. Thereafter, the minimum hourly rate for each academic year will increase by the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for all items published by the United States Department of Labor for the previous academic year. This Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
