The bill amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law to establish criteria for local tourism and convention bureaus to receive grants. Effective July 1, 2025, a bureau cannot be certified if its service area is represented by another certified bureau. Bureaus must be units of local government or not-for-profit organizations, in legal existence for at least two years, and have a full-time staff dedicated to promoting tourism. Matching funds requirements vary by fiscal year, with specific percentages and amounts set for 2021-2024 and 2025-2026.
