Establishes the Growing Growers Fund to provide grants for socially disadvantaged farmers in food deserts.
The bill creates the Growing Growers Fund as a special fund in the State Treasury. Moneys in the fund can be used by the Department of Agriculture to make grants to socially disadvantaged farmers in food deserts. The Department of Agriculture is authorized to adopt rules to implement the grant program. The Comptroller is required to transfer $2,000,000 from the General Revenue Fund to the Growing Growers Fund on July 1, 2025.
