Illinois HB3055 ensures noncitizen students are not denied grants or scholarships based on their citizenship status.

Illinois HB3055 amends the Higher Education Student Assistance Act to ensure that students who qualify for grants or scholarships are not denied these awards solely based on their status as noncitizens. This includes qualified aliens, nonimmigrants, and those paroled into the United States for less than a year. The Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
