Illinois HB2965 amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to mandate that firearm owners report lost or stolen firearms to local law enforcement within 72 hours. If a lost or stolen firearm is found by law enforcement, the previous possessor must be identified, and a citation issued. Mitigating circumstances may reduce penalties.
