Illinois HB2964 amends the School Code to establish rules for student use of cellular devices in schools.

HB2964 amends the School Code to require school boards to establish rules and disciplinary procedures for student use of cellular radio telecommunication devices in schools. The rules must restrict use during instructional time. The school board may create exceptions for school-based emergencies, individual student and family emergencies, and individualized education program and federal Section 504 plan accommodations. The intent is to reduce inappropriate activities and increase safety.
