The Illinois Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act establishes a state-administered paid family and medical leave insurance program. The Department of Employment Security will administer the program, which provides up to 26 weeks of family and medical leave within any 12-month period for various reasons, including care for a newborn child, recovery from childbirth, and care for a family member with a serious health condition. Eligible employees, contractors, and domestic workers can receive benefits, with weekly benefit amounts based on their average weekly wage.
