Illinois HB2944 amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to allow reimbursement for extended hospital stays for dementia patients.

Illinois HB2944 amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code to provide reimbursement for extended hospital stays for patients with dementia or other long-term care needs. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services will cover the entire hospital stay if the hospital documents multiple unsuccessful attempts to place the patient in a nursing or long-term care facility, and if each facility denies admission for a substantially similar reason.
