Waives or reduces vehicle registration fees for Illinois veterans and active-duty military personnel.
The bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide fee waivers and reductions for vehicle registration for veterans and active-duty military personnel. Beginning with the 2026 registration year, the standard registration fee for passenger motor vehicles and certain other vehicles will be $100 for Illinois vehicle owners with a veteran's designation on their driver's license. For those on active duty and stationed outside the United States for 90 days or longer, the fee will be reduced by 50%. Additionally, veterans who served in a combat mission will receive a full fee waiver.
