Illinois HB2934 changes speed limits in urban districts and on interstate highways.

HB2934 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to adjust speed limits in urban districts and on interstate highways. Effective October 1, 2025, the default speed limit in urban districts is reduced to 20 miles per hour, and in alleys within urban districts, it is reduced to 10 miles per hour. For interstate highways, the speed limit is set at 60 miles per hour in specified counties and 70 miles per hour elsewhere. The Secretary of State must inform all licensed drivers of these changes by September 1, 2025, through postal mail and a statewide campaign.
